Embudu is a successful mixture of contradictions - it is both formal and informal at the same time. The buildings on the island including all guest rooms and public areas are designed and built to reflect a formal elegance, yet there's sand on the floor and the efficient service always comes with a smile.
It takes 45 minutes on the local dhoni (mechanised boat) to reach the island which has a total of 118 rooms with a choice between standard, deluxe and superior. The best asset of these rooms, though, is the absolutely fascinating coral garden that lies so close to the rooms.
Diving is a popular activity on Embudu with delightful dive sites in the vicinity and a dive centre which is both friendly and efficient. Embudu also has an excellent beach on the western side of the island - a place where you can enjoy the spectacular sunsets that are an everyday happening in the Maldives. Dining is also just as enjoyable on the island with a wide array of seafood on offer on a regular basis.
